As the author of Legends of the Morgeti

Because I have gathered up so much genealogical information on families from San Gi0rgio Morgeto who settled in Guelph I thought it wisest to separate my enthusiasm for research, from my fascination with the criminal Morgeti.
And because it is possible to distinguish differences that cannot be divided, I have created this blog in order to do so here.

SS Batavia Ellis Island April 26 1903

The ship's manifest contains a list of men from "Giorgio" who passed through New York on their way to Montreal (presumably to work in railway and other crews organized by Antonio Cordasco.) Most of the names correspond with those on the bottom of Mrs. C Ferraro's photo of San Giorgio Morgeto, last names of families who had lived in Guelph, as recorded by Guelph historian Pat Bowley in the city's Historical Society periodical, the issue of which I don't have at hand or in mind. Because of the Ferraro list, however, and because of the other names from Ellis Island records which I have identified as Sangiorgiosi, I believe that the "Giorgio" listed as home for the Italian men who sailed from Hamburg on the Battavia is San Giorgio Morgeto. All are listed as farmers, all can read and write, some are married. In the following list m = married, s = single. The names are:
Antonio Cosentine 30 m., Giusppe Magnoli 44 m., Domenic Picolo 23 s., Leonard Fazari 42 m., Angelo Addario 34 m., Francesco Addario 31 m., Arcangelo Maio 27 m., Giuseppe Cangemi 53 m., Luigi Carere 44 m., Giorgio Tedesco 33 m., Domenic Raso 42 m., Vincenzo Raso 37 m., Michaelangelo Raso 33 m., Salvatore Valeriote 37 m., Luigi Ciurlee 26 m., Vincenzo Seminara 43 m., Vincenzo Albanese 26 m., Antgonio Alviano 33 m., Francesco Spano 30 m., Luigi Sorrenti 42 m., Michaelangelo Giovinazzo 34 m., Vincenzo Giovinazzo 25 s, Annunziato Giovinazzo 30 m, Vincenzo Giovinazzo m. 46, Francesco Giovinazzo m. 40, Luigi Giovinazzo 44 m., Antonio Giovinazzo 39 m., Giuseppe Giovinazzo 44 m., Luigi Giovinazzo 52 m., ? Indecipherable (by me) 28, m.

Slowly

I have begun making an electronic copy of my genealogy files and will post them Sooner than later. I promise. I'm a landscaper by trade, it's busy season, and the winter- fattened writer is weary these days.

According to Pat Bowley's Guelph Historical Society essay
The Italian Community, in St. Patrick's Ward, Guelph Ontario,
1900-1939, a Mrs. C.Ferraro had a photograph of the village of San Giorgio Morgeto, beneath which she had made a list of the families who had settled in Guelph. It is that list I use when I speak of the San Giorgiosi who moved to Guelph.

The clans according Mrs. Ferraro are:
Addario
Agostino
Albanese
Alviano
Ammendolia
Belcastro
Bellantoni
Anselmini
Bombino
Cacciatore
Capra
Cassone
Cardillo
Carere
Collura
Consiglio
Consetino
Cosentino
DeMaria
Fazzari
Furfaro
Giovinazzo
Ferraro
Cotrone
Fonte
Leo
Luccisano
Macri
Magnoli
Longo
Lieto
Mammoliti
Marchesano
Morabito
Muscatello
Raco
Maugeri
Monteleone
Nasso
Pezzano
Raso
Rao
Scarfo
Seminara
Sorbara
Sorrenti
Silvestro
Simonetta
Tedesco
Varamo
Valerioti

Other Canadese San Giorgiosi are: Agate, Avati, Bellingieri, Celli/Cello, Cesare/Zezare, Gentile, Gerace, Legato, Lougari, Luberto, Maio, Siciliano/Sigliano, Spano, Spataro, TRamonti, Verni, Varone/Veroni.
